Materials

The backbone of the golf cart is the frame. Golf cart frames are typically either steel or aluminum alloy, much like standard automobiles. There are pros and cons to both. It’s smarter.

Historically, gas-powered golf carts have dominated the market due to their ability to pull heavier loads in comparison to primitive 48V lead acid battery systems. Despite the noise and fumes, gas-powered carts were popular because of the ability to take them to small engine repair shops, even though they are more expensive to purchase and maintain. Additionally, new state emissions laws make owning them more difficult.

EV golf carts typically have either lead-acid batteries or lithium systems. Lead-acid batteries are cheaper, but require constant maintenance and refilling of distilled water to power the cores. They are also subject to corrosion and power bleeding.

Lithium-powered systems are efficient, stable, and easy to maintain.
